Travel can be an incredibly fun and enriching experience. However, for most, traveling also comes hand in hand with travel anxiety. As a Christian, the Bible is the best place to turn to when facing stress and unknowns. Here are some of my favorite Bible verses for travel anxiety.
3 Bible Verses for Travel Anxiety
From plane trouble to language barriers and navigating unfamiliar terrain, there are countless travel scenarios that leave us feeling helpless just as the psalmist in 116 felt. But in our helplessness, we can find hope in God’s presence.
The Lord guards the inexperienced. I was helpless, and he saved me. Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.
Psalm 116:6-7
One sure fire way to worsen anxiety is to keep it to yourself. Sharing your anxiety with God will help you focus on Him rather than your circumstances throughout your trip. In Philippians 4, Paul reminds the church in Phillipi to rejoice and be prayerful in any situation.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:6

The hardships associated with travel do have a silver lining: they provide an opportunity to depend on Christ and grow our faith. In Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, he reminds them that his suffering highlights his dependence on Christ rather than his own grit and strength.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12: 9-10
