The biggest factor when deciding on a Fresno hotel is choosing which neighborhood to stay in.
Your Fresno experience will highly depend on which area you choose to stay in, from the walkable and charming Old Town Clovis to the business hub of north Fresno or having the convenience of walking Downtown Fulton Street and the convention center.

- North Fresno
- Downtown Fresno

Map of Hotels in Fresno
To get around Fresno I definitely recommend renting a car. Rentalcars.com is my go-to for finding competitive rates and several pick-up options within Fresno. Unless you are sticking to one neighborhood, having the flexibility of a rental will allow you to get around the easiest as Fresno’s public transit is not as developed as other large cities.

The Best Hotels in Old Town Clovis
Old Town Clovis is my top recommendation for where to stay in Fresno. Although these hotels are technically in Clovis, the neighboring city to Fresno, Old Town is only ten minutes from both downtown Fresno and the airport.
What sets Old Town apart is its perfect blend of historic charm and modern amenities. With the Old Town walking trail that winds through the area, you can walk Clovis or enjoy the shopping and dining that Old Town is known for.

1. Comfort Suites Clovis
Comfort Suites has a prime location. Step out the back door and you are on the Old Town Clovis walking trail. A five-minute walk will lead you to Old Town restaurants and shopping, and the Clovis Rodeo Fairgrounds.

- Outdoor pool
- Walkable area
- Free parking & breakfast
- Paid shuttle
- No pets
2. Fairfield Inn & Suites Clovis
The Fairfield is another great option located further north on the Old Town walking trail.
- Year-round hot tub

3. La Quinta by Wyndham Clovis
The La Quinta is located further south but is still walkable Old Town. You will have to cross the street to reach the Old Town trail.
- Pet friendly
- Walkable area
- Free parking & breakfast
The Best Hotels in North Fresno
While North Fresno is not as walkable as Old Town Clovis, it is close to many of Fresno’s top restaurants, business parks, high schools, and Fresno State University. The hotels in North Fresno are all very close to the highway so you will also have easy access to Yosemite or downtown Fresno.
4. Hyatt Place Fresno
The Hyatt Place is probably the nicest hotel in Fresno. It offers the most upscale amenities and is near several business parks in North Fresno.
- Indoor Pool
- Free Parking & breakfast
- Pet friendly
5. SpringHill Suites Fresno
SpringHill Suites is one of Fresno’s newest hotels. It is not a walkable area but it is an easy drive to several things to do in Fresno.
- Outdoor pool
- Outdoor hot tub
- Pet friendly
- Free parking & breakfast
The Best Hotel in Downtown Fresno
Downtown Fresno is a great area to stay for nightlife and culture. You will find Chuckchansi Park and the Convention Center as well as more of Fresno’s best restaurants. It is a very walkable area in the daytime but I prefer to get around via Uber or rental cars after dark.
6. DoubleTree by Hilton Fresno Convention Center
The DoubleTree has one of the more unique interiors of all the Fresno hotels. All rooms exit facing the spacious lobby and onsite cafe. Plus, it is a convenient walk to the Convention Center.
- Pool & hot tub
- Free parking
- Onsite restaurant
- Walkable area
- No pets
The Best Hotel Near the Fresno Airport
The area near the airport is not walkable and there are not many things to do or eat in the area as it is very residential. However, if you need a quick stay, most hotels near the airport offer complimentary shuttle service.
7. Hampton Inn Fresno Airport
The Hampton Inn has all the basics you need if you are looking for a convenient hotel by the airport.
- Free airport shuttle
- Outdoor pool
- Free breakfast & parking
Other Cool Hotels Near Fresno

Unfortunately, if you are looking for luxury hotels near Fresno you will have to travel a bit. The closest boutique hotel to Fresno is The Darling in Visalia. Forty-five minutes south of Fresno, this renovated 1930s courthouse has vintage rooms and a nice rooftop bar and restaurant.
Another boutique stay one hour north of Fresno is the El Capitan Hotel in Merced. This four-star hotel has two restaurants that have topped the Best of the Central Valley lists several times.
If you are looking for luxury near Yosemite specifically, check out my six favorite Yosemite resorts, including unique stays like airstream glamping at AutoCamp Yosemite.

Hotels in Fresno FAQ
The La Quinta by Wyndham Clovis is the best hotel in Fresno that accommodates pets.
Avoid “Motel Row” along Parkway Drive between Belmont and Olive. Its location on Highway 99 in the dead center of California makes it a hub for human trafficking.
There are not any luxury hotels in Fresno. The nicest hotel with the most upscale amenities is the Hyatt Place in North Fresno.
