Staying at the Gemini Cycladic Home in Santorini

The Gemini Cave is one of the best Airbnb experiences I’ve ever had. Tucked along a winding footpath in the settlement of Finikia in Oia, this modern Cycladic cave features two separate apartments. Each are equipped with a full-size bed, kitchenette, and ensuite bath. What really makes the Gemini Suites one of the best places to stay in Santorini is the private balcony with a stunning view and secluded hot tub.
About the Property
Supporting locally owned businesses is important for ethical and sustainable tourism. That’s why I was so pleased to get to know Natasa and Stefanos who run the Gemini Suites. They renovated their grandmother’s traditional Santorini home to create a Cycladic stay with all the modern conveniences. Stefanos was also an excellent host. He met us at the bus stop, walked us to our suite, and gave us tons of helpful recommendations along the way.

Finikia is a small settlement on the northwest side of Santorini, just a few minutes East of Oia. Despite the short walking distance from the Instagram-famous Oia, Finikia is far less noisy and crowded because vehicles are prohibited within the settlement. Compared to Oia, I am so thankful that we stayed in Finikia. If we wanted to explore the famous photo spots of Oia, we enjoyed a peaceful and scenic walk. Even better, if we wanted to enjoy our charming Airbnb we could slip into the hot tub without throngs of people right outside our gate.
A Day at the Gemini Suites
Mornings start out slow in Finikia. I made sure to get up early and enjoy some Greek coffee on the porch overlooking Baxedes Beach. Each morning a local man even rode his donkey past the gate on his way to work.
Meze Meze is a great lunch spot (Finikia 847 02, Greece). There, we enjoyed sweet wine and fresh veggies before enjoying the walk into town. After a full day of being tourists in Oia, we would return to our Gemini Suite and sample complimentary local wine in our private hot tub. For dinner and a delicious limoncello desert, don’t miss Lefkes, the best restaurant in Finikia (Finikia 847 02, Greece).
